Happy New Year! We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, and that these crisp wintery mornings are making you feel cosy and warm, not soggy and cold.
It’s usually this time of year that we all start looking forward to warmer days, and planning our summer getaways. That usually involves considering what kind of budget you have, and what you want of your experience. For some, volunteering in the UK could be the ideal opportunity to have a cheap holiday whilst meeting loads of people, being part of a community, making a valuable contribution to a project and building self-confidence, whilst doing something awesome.
Sound interesting?
We’ve been running our Volunteer Programme since 2015 to great success. Our own Sarah, who heads up the Customer Service team, volunteered with us in 2016 and just hasn’t left.
We have always received brilliant and really touching feedback from our Volunteers who have joined us from all over the globe. We appear to be a stopover for many people travelling, which is something we really treasure. We are always inspired by the people we meet, and we love sharing stories and hearing about their journeys, physical and personal. We receive students and teachers, travellers and veterans, retirees and 18 year olds experiencing the world beyond school for the first time.
We’re a team.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR 2018
This year we are recruiting volunteers for Edinburgh Festival Camping, from 28th July to 28th August 2018. Edinburgh Festival Camping is the only campsite dedicated the Edinburgh Festivals, 6 arts festivals that take place in August, and accumulatively create the largest Arts festival in the world. Our campsite is a friendly, welcoming family campsite for performers, participants and visitors to Edinburgh through August, open from 2nd to 27th August and located at the Royal Highland Centre in Ingliston, close to the airport.
Volunteers are asked for 4 hours per day in exchange for free accommodation and additional facilities. It’s a really social place, so whether you come by yourself or with a group of friends, you’re guaranteed to meet people and make friends.
If this tickles your fancy, you can see more information in our Volunteer section on the Edinburgh Festival Camping site.
The only downside of course, is having to say goodbye to these wonderful people… we just say, until our paths cross again.
