Campsites near Bordeaux, France.

Bordeaux is the capital of the Aquitaine region and is the centre of the Bordeaux Metropole area.  There are many campsites near Bordeaux city but very few within its boundaries.

Travelling due West from Bordeaux you reach the Atlantic coast some 70kms away. Along the coast are a number of campsites accessible to Bordeaux if you don’t mind driving. Approximately 1.5 – 2hrs depending on the campsite. Head East and you aim for the Dordogne which has a range of campsites to suit all tastes.

However if you want stay somewhere to soak up all the atmosphere then you’ll want to find a campsite near Bordeaux city.


Campsites near Bordeaux

Within public transport or a reasonable taxi ride there are 3 campsites within reach of Bordeaux city centre, the Euro 2016 fan zone and the football stadium.

  1. Village du lac Camping de Bordeaux       They offer a range of different accommodation options. They have a limited number of camping pitches which include bringing your own tent, motorhome or caravan. They also have a range of chalets accommodating 4 to 8 people. The city centre can be easily reached by public transport or bike using the bike lanes. (Bike hire is also available). The stadium is within easy walking distance too on match days.
  2. Camping caravanning Beausoleil     A small operation offering good value motorhome and caravan pitches. They also have a small number of tent pitches. Situated just outside Bordeaux the campsite can be accessed by public transport to and from the city centre.
  3. Camp Bordeaux by Cammpingninja       This is our very own pop up campsite open specifically for the Euro 2016 football championships. 9th June – 22nd June. We have a range of pre-pitched tents from budget to luxury catering to all the needs of travelling international fans. Our site is accessible to the city centre, Euro 2016 fan zone and the stadium for match days.

So there you have it. If you are happy to drive a couple of hours on match days then you can stay in a whole range of locations. If however you want to make the most of following your team at the Euro 2016 championships then try and find a campsite near Bordeaux city. The fan zone set in Esplanade des Quinconces is due to be one of the largest and best out of all 10 of France’s Euro 2016 host cities.
