Camp Gold Coast – May update

We’re thrilled that plans for Camp Gold Coast are well underway as Australia and the Commonwealth amp up for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Six weeks ago, we attended the International Press summit in London where we met the Premier of Queensland, Annastacia Palaszczuk, as well as the chairman of the Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC), Peter Beattie AC, to participate in the International Briefing of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. We had a really interesting day, received tips from past Olympic and Commonwealth Champion Anna Meares, met some key figures and discussed our position as the home for volunteers, workforces and spectators at GC2018. Chatting to the organisers, it was lovely to hear back that the arrival of Camp Gold Coast is being eagerly anticipated by the major world sporting events community.

The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games are being held at 15 venues on the Gold Coast, as well as 2 further venues north into Queensland in Cairns and Townsville. The Gold Coast already had a name for itself as being a top destination for sports training, with a number of world class athletics training facilities. We can’t wait to see the city buzzing with GC2018 energy!

WHERE WILL CAMP GOLD COAST BE?

We’re just in the process of securing the locations for Camp Gold Coast. Amongst other operational tasks we are working on, we want to ensure that we can create some amazing campsites for you at great locations. We hope to be able to announce our locations in the coming months as our operations team get more details confirmed and we promise you will be the first to know!

WHEN WILL CAMP GOLD COAST GO ON SALE?

We’re not quite ready to go on sale yet, as we’re just waiting for a couple of things to come back before we do start taking bookings. We will however be contacting you before our pre-registered sale opens so you will have exclusive access to book and secure your position at our campsites.
