Work experience at CAMP CARDIFF

Camp Cardiff offers an unique opportunity to gain some practical and relevant work experience in Event Management and Customer Services, as we gear up to receive over 5000 visitors.

Guests from all over the world will be descending upon Cardiff for the biggest football club match on Earth. Due to the nature of this event, primarily we are looking for Work Experience candidates. Camp Cardiff will be open for only 5 days, so this is a event where most of our time will be spent setting up and taking down this temporary accommodation facility. It’ll be short (14 days), sweet and hugely beneficial to individuals seeking work experience in the event industry.

Don’t underestimate the size and importance of these matches. 300 million people tune in for the UEFA Champions League, an audience 3 times larger than the United States’ Super Bowl! With both the Women’s Final and Men’s Final across the five days that Camp Cardiff will be open, we are very excited to be able to receive and accommodate guests for these international events, and to be able to offer this as a volunteering opportunity.

If you are a student studying Hospitality or Event Management, or if you are thinking of getting into the Industry, here you will experience first hand the creation of an entirely temporary accommodation facility. Our low impact green accommodation provides a variety of accommodation types for guests from basic pre-pitched tents to Luxury Tipis and portable hotel rooms. Learn on the job about the practicality of setting up and working at events like this, and gain experience in site management and maintenance, customer services and hospitality. If you are looking to improve your C.V. or gain more experience, this is a great introduction to accommodating guests at large events.

What will volunteers do?

As this is a short term Work Experience opportunity, work experience volunteers would work up to 7 hours a day, covering a variety of roles on the campsite. Tented accommodation and air beds will be provided, you will need your own sleeping bag. Breakfast will be provided.

Successful applicants will become a member of the team and take on their own responsibilities. This is an opportunity for growth and industry relevant work experience, so if you are willing to put in the time then you will learn and benefit from this experience.

Roles you will cover:

  • Campsite management and maintenance
  • Working as a team to get the accommodation set up
  • Leading and coordinating a work force in a specific area
  • Opportunity to work in the back office in Customer Services and Sales
  • Working in ‘Front of House’ checking in guests, providing information, answering queries.

  • Opportunity to develop your Portfolio with post-event guest blogging and the creation of online content

Where is it?

Camp Cardiff will be located at Pontcanna Fields, in central Cardiff. It is a 25 minute walk from Cardiff Central Train Station, 15 minutes from Sophia Gardens Coach Station and only 18 minutes from the National Stadium of Wales – home to the UEFA Champions League Final.

There are plenty of facilities nearby, including a Tesco Express within 5 minutes just on the other side of Pontcanna Fields. The city centre is within 25 minutes walk of the campsite.
